THE HONEST SCOPE

What actually gets read

SCANNED
your homepage + robots.txt + sitemap.xml + llms.txt · 60 seconds

That is the whole list. We read one page, plus the first 10 links on it. Sitemap URLs are counted, not fetched — the rest of your site is still unread. The 600-page crawl is a separate job that needs a free account, because it takes up to 20 minutes and we have to be able to email you when it's done.

  • homepage HTML
  • robots.txt
  • sitemap.xml
  • /llms.txt
  • first 10 links on that page
  • Performance (one Lighthouse mobile run)

Nothing behind a login, no forms, no carts, one polite request at a time. That is the whole list — one page, four files, and the links on it.

METHODOLOGY

Five dimensions, no hidden weighting

The total is just these five numbers added up. No curve, no secret multiplier — you can check the math yourself.

Performance
25 PTS

Performance: one Lighthouse mobile run of your homepage in a real headless Chrome — LCP, CLS, FCP, TTFB and a lab proxy for INP. This is lab data, not real-user field data. If the run fails or times out, this dimension reads as not measured and the total is rescaled.

SEO
25 PTS

Title length, meta description, heading structure, canonical tags — the basics search engines read first.

Mobile
25 PTS

Viewport configuration, image alt text coverage, and whether images declare width/height.

Security
10 PTS

HTTPS and HSTS, a Content-Security-Policy header, and X-Frame-Options.

International fit
15 PTS

hreflang completeness (including x-default), Open Graph tags, and structured data that actually parses.

Each dimension adds its points when measured. If one isn't measured this run, the total is rescaled over what was — the report always shows which. No hidden weighting, no curve.

AFTER THE AUDIT

The audit is step one

Most tools hand you a list and wish you luck. Step two below is live. Step three — receipts — isn't yet: no article has been live long enough to print one.

01

Audit

You're here. Five dimensions, ranked fixes, a stated scope. Scores are comparable between runs.

02

Autopilot

Connect Search Console and WordPress. Topics come from your query data, and with autopilot on, HitMind writes and files them without waiting on you — into WordPress drafts, never straight to live; publishing it is your click.

03

Receipts

28 days after an article actually goes live on your site, a before/after from your own Search Console — flat results included, marked honestly. Not live yet: no article anywhere has gone the full 28 days.

WHAT A FREE ACCOUNT ADDS

This report stopped at your homepage.
Your site didn't.

Create a free account. HitMind crawls up to 600 pages from your sitemap, then names the pages nobody links to.

  • Orphan pages — 0 internal links The full URL list, not a count.
  • Weak pages — 1 to 2 internal links One template change away from being findable.
  • Your top 10 hub pages Where your internal links actually concentrate.
  • The rest of the fix list Every fix the homepage audit found, ranked the same way, with why-it-matters and how-to-fix.
Takes up to 20 minutes — close the tab, we'll email you when it's done.

FAQ

Fair questions about the audit

Is it really free?
Yes — no account, no credit card, no email address. Paste a domain, get the scored report in about 60 seconds. The free audit is our sales pitch: if this list is useful, create a free account and your first 3 articles are free too, for life. After that, picking topics and writing them is a paid plan.
What exactly did you crawl?
Four things, and only four: your homepage HTML, your robots.txt, your sitemap (we count the URLs it declares — we don't fetch them), and /llms.txt. On top of that we take the first 10 internal links on your homepage and check whether they resolve, and we load your homepage once in a headless Chrome running Lighthouse for the Performance dimension. Nothing behind a login, no forms, no carts; our own fetches go one polite request at a time. The 600-page crawl is a separate job that needs an account, because it takes 20 minutes and we have to be able to email you.
What happens to my data?
Each report is saved as a snapshot behind its own link, so you can share it or come back to it later. The link ends in a random 12-character code: anyone who has it can open the report, but it can't be guessed and we don't list it anywhere (the one exception is the sample report of our own site that we link to). The snapshot never changes afterwards — run the audit again for fresh numbers. We keep the domain, the scores and the findings; we don't keep your IP address, browser details or email with them. The raw HTML we fetched is discarded once the report is scored. Want a report taken down? Email support@hitmind.ai with its link. The free audit needs zero access to your accounts: no Search Console, no WordPress, nothing to connect.
How long until any of this shows up in Google?
Honest answer: it depends on what you fix. Meta descriptions and titles usually re-crawl within days. Core Web Vitals are field data, so they move on a 28-day rolling window — you won't see the number change tomorrow no matter how fast the fix was. New content typically takes about a month before it has enough Search Console data to be worth a receipt, which is why our receipts are cut at day 28. We don't promise rankings, and anyone who does is guessing.
What if you can't reach my site?
We don't print a fake report — the engine refuses to score a site it never saw. We name the likely cause instead of saying "something went wrong": most often a typo in the domain, the site genuinely being down, or a firewall/bot rule blocking our crawler. A failed run doesn't count against your quota, and retrying costs nothing.
What if my homepage is slow enough to time out?
The Lighthouse run gets a fixed time budget, and we stop it when the budget runs out. That's not nothing — it's a finding: a homepage that can't finish loading in a real browser inside that budget has a performance problem worth more attention than any tag on it. The rest (homepage HTML, robots.txt, sitemap, llms.txt) is usually collected within seconds, so it is kept and scored; only Performance reads as not measured, and the total is rescaled over what was measured.
Is there a limit on how many free audits I can run?
Re-running the same site is not rate limited — go ahead. What is limited is scanning many different sites in quick succession from one network, which is how people turn a free tool into a bulk scanner; hit that and you get a clear message rather than a silent failure. That limit is only on this anonymous tool — once you've created a free account and added a site, auditing it from inside your account isn't rate-limited by us at all.
