It produces a calendar full of topics with no relationship to what’s actually broken on the site publishing them.

The order we actually run

HitMind’s free audit reads your homepage plus
robots.txt
,
sitemap.xml
, and
llms.txt
, and ranks every failed check by severity. That ranked list is a better starting point for a content calendar than a keyword tool, because it’s ordered by what’s actually costing you, not by what a third-party tool estimates people search for.

To be precise about scope: this is the homepage-deep audit, not the async site crawl — it sees one page plus three files, not your whole site. For a full-site content calendar, the site crawl (up to 600 pages, run from inside an account) is the right input; the free audit is the right *first* input, because it needs nothing from you but a domain.

Fixes become topics

A missing FAQ schema on the pricing page becomes a brief for an FAQ-format article. A thin meta description on a comparison page becomes a brief for expanding that comparison. A security finding — say, a missing security header — becomes a short technical post, because “we found this on our own site and fixed it” is a legitimate article, not filler. The audit doesn’t write the calendar for you; it hands you a prioritized list of gaps, and each gap has an obvious article shape once you look at it.

Why order matters more than volume

A topic sourced from a real gap on your site converts differently than a topic sourced purely from search volume, because the gap already tells you the intent: someone is looking for something your page promises but doesn’t deliver. A keyword tool tells you people search for a phrase. It doesn’t tell you your page is failing at answering it. The audit does.

This is also why we’re not designing the audit and the topic engine as two separate products stitched together after the fact — the ranked fix list *is* meant to be the first draft of the calendar. Everything after that (topics drawn from your own Search Console queries, once you connect it) refines the calendar with real query data instead of replacing the starting point. The topic engine is live now, but the audit’s fix list is still where the calendar starts.

Your homepage audit already lists what’s missing.
